About This Work

BlueBird In  Bloom was created as a technical demonstration for my students, exploring how a painting can be built using just one color. By simply varying the amount of water, different values emerge, from the softest pale washes to the deepest tones.

The focus was on understanding control and restraint, learning to lay down clean, even washes that feel uniform and intentional. Through simplicity, the piece becomes a study in patience, discipline, and the quiet depth that a single hue can hold.
